A solar street light is a self-contained outdoor lighting system in which a solar panel, LED luminaire, charge controller, and rechargeable battery are combined into one unit - or distributed across a split-design pole. The system is charged during the day and is operated throughout the night using stored solar energy, with no connection to the electricity grid required at any stage.
